FWIW my thoughts on Phish are the same as any other band that allows taping and sells "taper tickets" but won't be a part of archive... Mule for example. Seems hypocritical... doesn't compute.

There actually has been post by the band regarding this decision and it seems reasonable. By allowing their recordings on the archive it becomes public domain. This means the band looses ownership of their own work. Currently they allow taping and transfer of the recordings person-to-person but not on a centralized 3rd party forum.

While I appreciate the archive and ease of access to live recordings these days, I do miss the personal connections that came with trading tapes. Much of the community has been lost in this sense by digitization.
